We are currently recruiting Social Workers for Assessor Positions

Description:
Complete CAS Assessments for people receiving services with OPWDD. The CAS tool(Coordinated Assessment System) is a conversation that gathers information about the person's strengths, needs and interests. Individuals being assessed are over age 18 and Medicaid and programmatically eligible for OPWDD services. CAS Assessors complete 3 weeks of training developed by OPWDD and delivered by our human services trainers on how to complete the assessments. Specific interview techniques that embody the art of conversational style interviewing in order to complete assessments in a person-centered manner are taught.

CAS Assessor positions are full-time positions that require scheduling flexibility and weekend work (availability for 1-2 weekends per month is expected / required). These are not traditional 9-5 weekday positions. Assessments can take place on any day of the week. Weekends are not excluded. When an assessment is scheduled, the Assessor travels to the individual's home or other agreed-upon location in the community, conducts the assessment and then must complete and finalize the assessment within 3 calendar days. Candidates should understand that travel is a required part of this job. Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in human services field Experience: Minimum of one (1) year post-educational experience working directly with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities. *preferably with adults
Preferred Experience Minimum of one year conducting assessments with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities; Experience in adapting interviewing skills to elicit information from individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, their families, caregivers and staff, and various clinicians. Strong analytical skills; detail and solution oriented; ability to work independently; excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills; and ability to use spreadsheet or database software; Proficient computer skills including, but not limited to, the ability use the following on a daily basis: Web-based applications, Email, Microsoft Word. Must possess a valid NYS Driver's License or NYS ID card. Bilingual English/Spanish may be required for some positions / regions
