Part time position for an outpatient clinic in White Plains, two 8 hour days per week.
This is a temp to direct hire position.
SUMMARY:
The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner provides direct psychiatric services under the supervision of the Chief Psychiatrist
JOB RELATED DUTIES:
  1. Understanding and supporting the agency's mission & treatment philosophy:
    • Treats all clients, families and co-workers with respect & courtesy
    • Demonstrates & models sensitivity to cultural background of children, families and co-workers
    • Honors Sanctuary Commitments in all day to day activities
  2. Responsible for providing outpatient and residential care to patients to maintain optimal mental health, to patients showing a change or decline in mental status, and chronic or urgent mental health conditions
  3. Takes part in an interdisciplinary team that provides primary mental health care
  4. Obtain patient histories, risk factor assessments, ordering of therapeutic and diagnostic tests, and attend to consultations and appointments
  5. Prescribe medications following the agency's policy, formulary, and relevant regulations of New York State
  6. Consult with physicians on cases that are beyond the scope of qualifications of a PMHNP
  7. Document all relevant patient data in medical records
  8. Formulate, execute, and review healthcare education delivered to patients and families
  9. Provides prompt and smooth communication with other health professionals for effective delivery of clinical patient services
ENTRY LEVEL QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Education/ Training/ Licensure
  • Current New York State Nurse Practitioner - Psychiatry License and DEA registration. Must be unrestricted, current, complete, and active
  • Obtain Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner or Mental Health Nurse Practitioner certification from the American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC)
  1. Experience
  • Minimum of five (5) Years' experience in an advanced psychiatric nursing role, including Child and Adolescent psychiatry
  1. Skills, Knowledge, Abilities
  • Excellent analytical and management skills to resolve complex clinical and administrative problems
  • Strong computer skills, including EMR
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to meet session productivity standards
  1. Physical Requirements
  • Reach, walk, climb stairs, bend
  1. Ability to travel and possess a valid driver's license
