Supervising Social Worker

The MHSC Supervising Social Worker will provide oversight and clinical supervision for early career social workers. Supervisors will focus on one of three practice areas: primary care, mental health, or substance use with potential to focus more specifically on child, adolescent, adult or geriatric populations. Specific Responsibilities: Provide weekly individual and group clinical supervision for approximately 15 early career MSW level social workers, working to obtain hours toward clinical licensure. Monitor and ensure staff training and development. Track clinical and supervisory hours for staff licensure process. Assure and guide quality of clinical practice in respective discipline. Complete supervisory documentation. Complete performance evaluations. Monitor staff documentation for timeliness and completeness. Train and monitor staff compliance with MHSC and clinic policies and procedures. Ensure direct reports have sufficient breadth, depth and scope of clinical experiences to support advancement in licensure process. Liaise and escalate clinical site issues to Senior Clinical Manager and support site resolutions. Maintain patient records as outlined by Medical Records, Quality Assurance, and MHSC and clinic policies and procedures. Prepare treatment plans, discharge summaries, and other related paperwork. Participate in required staff training and development (including seminars, group supervision, or apprenticeship and other MHSC learning and professional development activities). Alert appropriate members of the MHSC administration of emergencies, which jeopardize the client' s stability within the community or family so that all available resources may be used to meet immediate needs on an ongoing basis. To maintain client confidentiality as guaranteed by the Social Security Act and HIPAA. To follow MHSC agency procedure for reporting suspected abuse or maltreatment. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: MSW from accredited school of social work. LCSW licensed and registered in New York State. Qualified supervisor as defined by the NYS Education Department to supervise the provision of services by an LMSW. Supervisory experience with MSW level social workers and/or students. Commitment to 3 years of practice in the MHSC. Minimum of 3 years clinical practice; 5 years preferred. ¢ Ability to effectively engage in therapeutic relationship. Ability to work with patients by telephone or in person; Schedules vary and may include days, nights, weekdays, weekends, and holidays. Specialties in child and adolescent, geriatric, and substance abuse opportunities. Excellent written/verbal communication and organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively in a team setting. Strong commitment to work in a high-underserved community with limited access to behavioral health care. Sensitivity to diverse cultural and linguistic populations. PREFERENCES: LCSW-R Knowledge of city-wide community resources and mental health systems. Bi-lingual and able to conduct therapy in English plus another language including, but not limited to Spanish, Mandarin, Thai, Cantonese, Russian, Japanese, Korean, German, Greek, Italian, French, French-Creole, Portuguese, Hebrew, Haitian-Creole, Arabic, Egyptian, Hindi, Bengali, Punjabi, Polish, Serbian, Serbo-Croatian, American Sign Language, etc.
