Worker's Compensation Claims Specialist

Must have prior authorization/benefits verification and worker' s comp claims experience. Insurance experience and general knowledge required. Bilingual (Spanish) preferable. Desired job experience: 1-3 years medical office experience required,
-minimum 2 years' experience with Microsoft word, excel and Eclinical works.
- Orthopedic Spine Specialty related experience a plus.
- 1-2 workers' compensation billing experience.
Primary responsibility: The prior authorization specialist will work closely with clinical/administration and billing department to assist patient with insurance approvals, financial assistance and more. Candidates must have excellent communication, organization and follow-up skills with the ability to handle multiple assignments simultaneously. Work all open items for Workers Compensation and No Fault claims. Provide feedback to management and rest of billing team to ensure claims are billed out correctly. Identify account issues/ trends and work with management for resolution. Update provider regarding any changes related to WC. Obtain authorization from carrier, prior to providing medically necessary treatment to patient. Bill and report medical service procedures in accordance with the Health Care Provider Responsibilities and Special Billing Instructions Sections in the NY WC Medical Services Billing Essential Functions: Verification of patient insurance and benefits, patient referrals, insurance authorizations, worker' s compensation case, medical billing function for worker' s compensation.
